Instrument Rating
Often quoted as being the most challenging and rewarding flying for pilots, the Instrument Rating gives the pilot the ability to navigate more precisely in good weather as well as fly safely through the bad. Pilots learn to handle the aircraft more precisely with reference to the inside gauges instead of purely looking out the window.
Course Eligibility:
To begin the Instrument Rating course, you must have at least a Private Pilot License and a Class 3 FAA medical certificate.
Completion Requirements:
- 50 Hours PIC Cross-Country
- 40 Hours actual or simulated instrument; Minimum 15 hours dual from a CFII; Maximum of 20 hours can be performed in a flight training device; 3 hours prep within 60 days of the FAA Practical Test
- 250 Nautical miles IFR Cross-Country
- 70% or better score on FAA Written Exam
- Successful completion of the FAA Practical Exam
